Well, my dad passing away today was certainly unexpected. A phone call, a frantic, crying sister telling me she has bad news. Dad had a heart attack and associated kidney failure. They transported from one hospital to the other and no news. Be ready to fly out to Florida.

Then a report of having to get to Florida as fast as possible. Trying to figure out which flight to get.

Then a report of don't bother, he's on life support for 30 more minutes and then they're pulling the plug.

Now it's a matter of signing paperwork and getting the family home. News of another family squabble even at the hospital while all this is going on.
