At the convention, I attended a panel discussion on the "LGBT in Fandom" at 11PM at night. The reason we were told this panel meet this late was due to its discussion nature and teen/children would not partaken in the discussion. The nature of the discussion is about see us in the Sci FI community and we would want any community to be seen, all races, creeds, ages and sexual orientations.
Discrimination and Segregation are done on many levels. Maybe if we met that late at night no one would attend but that was not the case. The conversations were very insightful because they were chaired by Dr. Thomas Stevens and Eric Dorsett. We discussed our images in movies, television, Sci Fi and conventions.
I have one question for you.
If George Takei and Brad Altman can get a standing ovation for a kiss, why couldn't a LGBT Panel discussion happen at 1PM on Saturday afternoon during peak attendance time of a convention for anyone to attend, even committee members?
