Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:10:09 AM
right now chatting with friends from the UK and the UAE. About politics and how thrilled we all are about Barack Obama as our new President.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:12:20 AM
I am thrilled about it myself. Democracy at work, but let us see if we ALL can work together to fix OUR situation.

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:14:01 AM
yeah exactly. Hopefully the Republicans will join us and not be malcontents

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:15:44 AM
Yes, we do but dot expect a great deal. I do that when I date a guy....expect nothing so everything is special

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:17:19 AM
well thats a good philosophy to live by. But at least the dems have gained more seats in the house and senate so the repubs aren't as strong as they once were. Thank god we didn't end up with Pussy O'Palin as VP aaaaaaaaah parrish the thought.

Keith

Hahaha

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:20:33 AM
she was a laughing stock and very decisive. I couldn't have bared her. would have considered moving to canada.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:21:35 AM
I was ready to move...I have boxes, an apartment without the deposit....and van on standby

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:22:42 AM
hahaha yeah I can believe it!! Well it worked thank god!! If it hadn't been for some of the red states going blue it may have been different.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:23:06 AM
True, so true

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:23:52 AM
finally apathetic people who didn't vote before came out to vote and made a difference.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:25:14 AM
as they say....Every vote counts

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:26:56 AM

I was so thrilled to see finally Northern VA counted in the state of Virginia. And North Carolina, whew who would have guessed that one.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:31:36 AM
hahaha

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:33:39 AM
but so disappointing with prop 8 being passed in cal banning gay marriages. I didn't' realize there were that many whites along with most of the Black and Hispanic communities that voted to pass that bill. what a shame.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:35:47 AM
I think voters were confused. You should look at the signs posted.

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:38:02 AM
yes but the Hispanic culture has that macho thing and macho cultures have always been anti gay, look at the mid east. And baptist churches still preach gays are sinners and sinful had a role too.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:42:14 AM
That is truly sad. I do not understand what we have done as a group of people to make religious people say the things they say

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:43:16 AM
yeah I agree. it sure doesn't fit into my understanding of Christianity. It is hate plain and simple.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:51:24 AM
www.everyq.com I am having a contest as well so invite your friends. Where is you other half (bf)?

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:52:57 AM
thanks I have made note of it. He has church duties. He is the music director for a catholic church. He is a devoted catholic even though obviously he doesn't agree on all their views.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:55:08 AM
Understood. I have faith but do not believe in organized religion. I went to catholic school for 12 years...scared from them

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 9:57:13 AM
I went to a parochial school too, episcopalian but not as dogmatic as catholics. I am not a memeber of any organized religion either. I think you don't need it but if it works for others so be it. My issue is the churches that divide people say you here are good those out there are bad and sinners. thats wrong.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:00:41 AM
I agree to a point. I do not think is good/bad. Its more of do you think like they do or not. Catholics only believe they will go to heaven...very jaded. It should be more of acceptance and tolerance. Love one another because we are different...not hate each other because of it.

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:03:10 AM
Exactly you've got it. I have talked candidly with some African American women at work I am friends with and they seem to get uncomfortable when I say people are different but in superficial ways we should accept differences. that what make life interesting and how we learn from one another and about ourselves.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:06:08 AM
It is human nature to fear things we do not understand. Communication is the key to understanding. With understanding, we can compromise and have a stable and well harmonious society.

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:09:35 AM
hopefully, are we too ideological? I am good friends with one African American women at work and coincidentally she was raised catholic too. I tell her gays are very accepting more than any other group I know of racial and cultural differences and that is one good thing we bring to the table.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:12:14 AM
Yes, because our group encompasses many groups that would not get along. I do know some gay people who hate straight people, but I do not know why...

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:13:49 AM
crazy I suppose. well there will always be haters anywhere they exist. but as a culture we have to make a statement it isn't tolerated.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:16:52 AM
I agree, but without a proper dialog and venue communication will not work. I am an optimist but I will always see what liquid is there and what type for vessel it is contained.

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:19:33 AM
good analogy.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:21:50 AM
Thank you...Life is not so much black and white, but varying shades of gray.

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:22:41 AM
oh indeed. but so many cant handle the grey areas. to think of the world in black and white terms is easier for most.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:23:53 AM
Life is easy. People make it hard.

Tom
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:26:47 AM
well I don't know if life is easy at times but certainly people can make it worse.

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:27:32 AM
Yes

Keith
Sunday, November 09, 2008 10:39:03 AM
